The mysterious new location of Next and Aviary, Grant Achatz’s new restaurant and bar, got a little more interesting over the weekend. Achatz linked to some very shaky photos of his crew lurking around the basement of Next, which, while interesting, could have honestly been any creepy basement in the city. But according Feast Chicago, that new location will be the home of the just shuttered Follia, in the West Loop. Feast also speculates that Aviary will be housed in the not closed Fulton Lounge.
If this is true this will create an impressive new restaurant row in the West Loop. West Fulton Street row already includes The Publican, Otom, and Moto, with Stephanie Izard’s The Girl and the Goat to open soon a block south. With Next and Aviary there, we can’t imagine anyone will be able to find a parking spot for the foreseeable future.
Check out Next’s Facebook page for more haunting photos of the basement, and also a few shots of a much more pleasant looking design meeting.
