LAist takes a quick look at the block of 5700 Wilshire that was mired in controversy last summer just as the food truck phenomenon shifted into its highest gear. Three out of six brick-and-mortar restaurants are now gone from the street while Food Truck Row still thrives. Few are convinced that these dime-dropping diners were closed by unfair competition. Koo Koo Roo is going bankrupt, while Toshi Fresh Asian and Organic To Go really weren’t bringing much new to the table, especially compared to the four-wheeled fusion outside. San Fran-import Mixt Greens is now in the Organic space and the chain-friendly culture hasn’t vanished entirely. Marie Callendar’s, Baja Fresh, and Johnnie’s NY Pizza still remain on the Mid-Wilshire stretch…at least for now!
