Jerry Remy’s and Upscale Mexican Planned for Waterfront

Liberty Wharf is all booked up with tenants, and the list is a doozy. Last summer, we told you that the space would house Legal Sea Foods’ flagship, complete with three dining areas, as well as steakhouse ZED451 (because what that neighborhood needs is more steakhouses!). Today we learn that, the owner of Jerry Remy’s has announced plans to open a second Remy’s, as well as an upscale Mexican spot, in the development project, per the Herald.

The second Jerry Remy’s will be modeled after the still-pretty-new Fenway location and will take up 5,000 square feet. The as-yet-unnamed Mexican spot will be helmed by Beard award winner Todd Hall, which explains why he was consulting on Remy’s menu, a job that seems to be pretty well beneath his fine dining standards. You know who can’t be happy about this? Legendary Restaurant Group, which just a few weeks ago announced plans to open Pappa Gallo’s, a “New York style hip, trendy Mexican restaurant.” Both Remy’s and the Hall-helmed Mexican spot are expected to open in December.

While two new tourist haunts open, one will close: Sam’s Cafe, the Faneuil Hall spin-off of Cheers is up for sale.
