Follia, the stylish West Town Italian restaurant, closed on April 26. The Chef, Bruno Abate, claimed the influx of new modern Italian restaurants hurt business. “Now [Chicago has] over ten pizzerias with those ovens. Piccolo Sogno, Quartino, Ciao Pizzeria. And look at Nella Pizzeria. All these people, they are growing now… . I am sad.” Abate plans to focus on his Wicker Park joint, Tocco. [Chicago Magazine]
Tizi Melloul plans to close its doors on May 15. The River North Mediterranean restaurant is owned by Steven Ford, who is currently opening up the Pork Shoppe in Avondale. [Dish/Chicago Magazine]
