This Saturday marks the return of The Grilled Cheese Invitational, coming to Los Angeles Center Studios with an endless supply of stylish sandwiches quite unlike the ones your mama made. In addition to the usual lineup of cheesy chefs vying for the title of grilled cheese champion, natural companions The Tillamook Truck and Grilled Cheese Truck will be there, handing out free samples, the former with chef Eric Greenspan and his “secret” melted Tallegio recipe. You can apply online to be a judge and this year, there will be categories for both pro and amateur grillers, though one ultimate winner will still be crowned. Other competitions involve cheese-calling and a cheese-related costume contest, and when if you’ve experienced more cheese than you can take, a beer garden awaits. Tickets are $10 advance online, $15 at the door.
