The Tea Party rally featuring Sarah Palin is underway on the Common, near the Charles Street entrance. Whether you hate the Tea Partiers so much you can’t even consume the brewed beverage today (but still want to gawk at their signs) or you’re a Palin pal who, ironically, hates tea, we’ve got some recommendations for coffee nearby.

• Pop into Cafe Vanille for an exemplary cappuccino and a fine French Freedom pastry.

The Paramount offers an excellent plain cup, alongside some killer pancakes (the quintessential campaign food).

Bagel Plus Cafe & Grill is conveniently located across the street from the “real tea party” counterprotest. Pop into Bagel Plus for a coffee, and then go across the street for crumpets and watercress sandwiches.
