Two More North Beach Restaurants In Danger of Shuttering

Today’s rich Inside Scoop (hat tip, Paolo) yields news that two Washington Square standbys, Joe DiMaggio’s Italian Chophouse and Joey & Eddie’s, are likely destined for change. A notice posted on Joe DiMaggio’s window states that they’re behind on rent to the tune of $16,000, and Joey & Eddie’s owner Joe Manzare is putting his historic restaurant up for sale.

If Manzare doesn’t find a buyer soon, he’ll be changing the concept to a Neapolitan pizza joint with a big oyster bar. [Ed. Note: That would make eight new ones including Ardiana’s Ragazza.]
