Montrose’s Cucina Rustica has made a move to the big city, with a new location in Downtown’s Financial District. The Italian restaurant is housed in a building BlogDowntown once nominated as the neighborhood’s weirdest, though now it sounds quite charmed by the skylight, blonde-to-dark wood furniture, and views of Figueroa. Owner Albert Shahmoradian’s new offering, eighteen months in the making, has a similar menu to his flagship Rustica, with pasta and pizza supporting Cal-talian apps like avocado al forno and main attractions of peppered filet mignon and veal parmigiana, but he plans to continue tailoring dishes to what he calls Downtown’s “more demanding customer.” Cucina Rustica is now open from 11:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.

888 Wilshire Blvd. Downtown. 213-988-8880.
