We noticed Shabu Shabu Ya taped a note to their front door informing diners of the restaurant’s temporary closure. The sign points to an “unforeseen incident” causing a closure “for repairs for the next two weeks or until further notice.” Since we see no clear fire or flood damage, we have to wonder if our recent report that Shabu-Ya is coming to K-Town hasn’t caused massive identity issues here. As the spot is unfortunately unreachable for a comment, we’ll go with that exact theory until we hear back from Shabu Shabu Ya. If you’re itching for it to get back on its feet or for the new rival to land on Western, there’s new Yojie Downtown offering sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu in Little Tokyo with its long lines and self-grilled meats in the meantime.
