Bakesale Betty’s second location debuted this morning at the corner of Broadway and West Grand Avenue in downtown Oakland. The line was already up the block and the opening day menu, as at their flagship, was simple: fried chicken sandwich, egg salad sandwich, lemonade, strawberry shortcake, and some assorted scones and cookies. Betty herself (chef Alison Barakat) was on hand in her blue wig, and the shop’s signature ironing boards had already migrated across the street and up the street, marking the new turf for Betty’s fans.

It turns out, the new Bakesale Betty is literally around the corner from Daniel Patterson’s upcoming casual Coi sequel, Plum (which is going into the former Louisiana Fried Chicken space), and this very foodie intersection also boasts Luka’s Taproom and Ozumo.
