Actress and food writer Madhur Jaffrey loves eating her way around San Francisco, and waxes rather poetic in the Financial Times about the many dishes that make her swoon in the course of day. She begins, “San Francisco is at its loveliest in the spring. Its voluptuous, bare, brown hills turn surprisingly green, morel mushrooms and asparagus spears begin to push their heads out of the earth, citrus fruit - Meyer lemons and kumquats - droop from over-laden branches…” and she goes on to sing the praises of breakfast at Boulette’s Larder, snacks at Nopalito, tapas at Contigo, and she can’t help but hop over to Berkeley to kiss Alice’s ring and eat a late-night pizza at Chez Panisse Café.
