Today, New York gave you the above look at Press, on the sixteenth floor of the Ink48 hotel. It’s not the only rooftop bar coming to Hell’s Kitchen — we’re told that in mid-May, a bi-level, 5,000-square-foot “ultra lounge” will open in the 33rd and 34th floors of the new Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites. It sounds like designers Stephen B. Jacobs and Andi Pepper (who’ve also worked with the Gansevoort, Library, and Giraffe hotels) are going all out on this one — to complement views of the Hudson River and the Empire State Building, a ceiling of LED lights will mimic an aerial view of midtown Manhattan.
A “north terrace” (one of five distinct areas) will have a retractable glass roof, and there will be private cabanas on the “south terrace.” The Sky Room, as the venue will be called, will be run by industry vets Thierry Pomies and Peggy Millard — Pomies was an owner of Azza and a manager at Pink Elephant, and Millard has run Spa and Capitale, among others. We’ll tell you more once construction is complete.
