Farm-to-Plate Hits The Highway

Seeking to support Californian farms even before you reach the table? Last Friday, The California Department of Food and Agriculture proposed a new license plate design that honors the state’s farmers, with a majority of the proceeds from the $50 units going to educational programs for students pursuing careers in agriculture. Plate numbers are placed above the word “Agriculture” in red, with a sunny, illustrated farm bearing the phrase, “Food, Fiber, Fuel, Flora.” L.A. Times reports that these plates will only be considered for production once 7,500 orders have been made. If you want to be the first on your block to hoo-ride with one of these strapped to your tail, reservations are currently available online.
