Cienfuegos, the rum joint that Ravi DeRossi of Death & Co. and Mayahuel has been installing above sister sandwich bar Carteles (which now has a daiquiri machine!), will open as soon as Friday. As previously mentioned, the still-growing menu of Cuban-inspired small plates is by Luis Gonzales (Mayahuel, etc.), and the fizzes, flips, and punch bowls (available in four sizes) are by Charlotte Voisey, best known for her work with Rose Bar and the Eldridge. As you can see by perusing the menu below, she has also invited guest mixologists like St. John Frizell of Fort Defiance to contribute.
As with DeRossi’s other establishments, the seating for 60 or so is walk-in only (hours are from 5 p.m. till 2 a.m., daily). Click through our slideshow for a look at the pink “jewel box” room, as well as at the cocktails and food. Next up for DeRossi, in the space next to Carteles that was once going to be La Otra: a next-door restaurant modeled after a public square, hopefully with a water fountain!
