Anthony Bourdain Is Coming to L.A….To Lecture

Yesterday the O.C. Weekly roped a few food websites into reporting that Anthony Bourdain was bringing Les Halles to Newport. While we were quick to spot this editorial banana peel, we can officially confirm this: Anthony Bourdain is coming to L.A. in June! He’s not cooking though, so what’s the deal?

On June 16th, Tony will spend a few hours at U.C.L.A.’s Royce Hall for a speaking engagement that promotes his forthcoming book, Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food. Here, he’ll basically do his favorite thing, talk about himself and his travels, then take questions from the audience. Wilshire restaurant is the sponsor for this event and plans a VIP meet-and-greet with Bourdain that comes catered by chef Andrew Kirschner and offers the best seats for his lecture. Tickets will go on pre-sale on Ticketmaster this Monday and officially on next Friday, April 9th at 10:00 A.M. online or by calling 800-745-3000.

Someone please ask him if it’s time to mourn the days of kitchen roguery and if he concurs, point him to Lazy Ox, where Black Sabbath provides “the soundtrack of a certain breed of male-oriented kitchen,” in J. Gold’s words.
