Tomorrow Chaya Venice will open a five-day pop-up while the restaurant itself retools its cuisine and appearance. Called Chaya Go, the space will fit 150 diners in a room covered with vintage-style posters announcing past events and photos of chef Shigefumi Tachibe, while music from the Nineties plays to celebrate the era in which the restaurant opened, or maybe just to make us feel very old. An all-you-can-eat-and-drink menu will be served for a $20 entrance fee, with a small selection of dishes like spicy shrimp and tuna, plus unlimited beer, wine, and sake. Proceeds go to C-CAP, which helps high school students start careers in the culinary arts. Chaya Go opens tomorrow at 5:00 P.M. and ends after March 31. On April 3rd, Chaya Venice will reopen. See the pop-up menu below.
