If the stormy March weather that plagued Philly Beer Weekend, made you long for the fuggy June days of Philly Beer Week, you can get cracking on planning. Tickets are now on sale for the Philly Beer Week opening event. It’s going to be at the Independence Visitors Center on Friday, June at 7:30 p.m. and will feature Ben Franklin, Mayor Nutter Butter and the return of the Keg Hammer of Glory. $40 gets you into the ceremonial keg tapping and unlimited samples of beer from regional brewers. For those who remember the cramped 2008 Brewer’s Plate at the Independence Visitors Center, PBW co-chair Don Russell/Joe Sixpack says the logistics have been worked out so folks won’t be squished this time. Buy tickets online via the Philly Beer Week site.
