Johnnie’s Coffee Closes in Marina del Rey

Johnnies’ Coffee Shop, in the second floor corner of Villa Marina Marketplace, has closed up shop. Housed down the walkway from Antica Pizzeria, this one-man stand was a quick breakfast stop for mall-goers and condo dwellers, as well as a last minute juice-station for L.A. Fitness members, and served here for six years. Fresh fruit and strong organic coffee were a strong point, and though Gelson’s is still downstairs, Soup Plantation appears to be the most in demand seat now that there’s no one to cater to the outdoor patio. We’ll make sure to keep you updated if something edible takes its place. In the meantime, we see owner Johnnie Graves, a brewing-master who helped start the nearby Coffee Roaster, still offers the same business training that helped spawn coffee shops like Tanner’s Coffee and Sarah’s.
