Why Can't Us?

Pick a Haute Dog for the Ballpark

Things are getting rather gourmet over in the food department at Citizens Bank Park. First came word of the Phillies toaster and now the the Phillies and their corporate food conglomerate partner Aramark - keepers of the PA state Capitol Cafe! - are asking fans to pick from three new “uniquely Philly” hot dogs to decide a new “signature hot dog” for the ballpark. The options are more haute dogs than hot dogs: Amish pepper hash or pickled onion salsa and ancho pepper sauce? Let’s view the choices.

• South Philly Hot Dog: “An all-beef dog, topped with broccoli rabe, spicy roasted peppers and sharp provolone on a crusty Italian roll.”

• Olde Philadelphia Hot Dog: “An all-beef dog, topped with Amish pepper hash, dill pickle and yellow mustard on a poppyseed roll.”

• Summer Hot Dog: “An all-beef dog, topped with cucumbers, pickled onion salsa and ancho pepper sauce on a pretzel roll.”

Cast your vote over on the Phillies site. You can vote through April 4. Fans can taste the three finalists during the Phillies’ exhibition games, April 2-3 at Citizens Bank Park. The winner will be available throughout the 2010 season, starting Opening Day, April 12.
