PLCB Shenanigans

After a Year, Brew Finally Coming to Brew

It’s taken roughly a year of PLCB shenanigans, but Brew, the bottle shop from John Longacre, owner of the South Philly Tap Room, has finally gotten its liquor license.

General manager Kathryn Hague says she just put in a big fat beer order and hopes to have the store, which shares a physical space with Ultimo Coffee, up and running by Friday night. The plan is to start off slowly and then to host a grand opening party on Saturday, March 27. The beer selection will start off slowly as well; thanks to the PLCB delays, Hague says funds are tighter than they had initially planned.

Initially, there will be roughly 200 craft bottles for sale with a concentration on regional brews, which will eventually grow to 400 bottles with a broader focus. In the future, Hague is hoping to devote one cooler to French and Belgian biere de gardes and ciders - like the kind at the upcoming Dupont cider dinner at SPTR we told you about earlier today.
