Barry Edelman Steps Out on His Own in Marblehead

Barry Edelman has left his executive sous chef position at Bistro du Midi to open 5 Corners Kitchen in Marblehead. 5 Corners will serve a carefully-edited menu of simple, locally-sourced food, Edelman tells North Shore Dish. The restaurant, located in the former home of Ladycakes Bakery, seats 40, and the price of entrees will keep under twenty bucks. Like the menu, the wine list will be curated and inexpensive. 5 Corners will serve dinner nightly and a “good old-fashioned brunch” on Saturdays and Sundays. Top Boston chefs, like Michael Leviton, have long referred to Edelman as an up-and-comer, so his own restaurant is bound to be a Big Deal. 5 Corners Kitchen is slated to open May 1.
