Non-profits are putting food trucks to work and Angeleno eaters everywhere will benefit. St. Vincent’s “Meals on Wheels” program is launching its Cart for a Cause tomorrow at noon, in a truck that finds some of L.A.’s biggest culinary names cooking for the public. Planned to tour the city every Tuesday through November, the cart and its accompanying talent will prepare ten-dollar lunches reflecting the chef’s style or entirely new creations of their own invention. $6.50 from every dish sold goes to provide meals for the elderly, sick, and those unable to walk or leave home to eat. So, who’s cooking first?
Future chefs will include the guys from Animal, Josef Centeno, David Myers, Susan Feniger, John Cuevas, and Eric Greenspan. Squid Ink tells us the first chef up is Alex Becker from Nobu West Hollywood, who will appear on the next two Tuesdays. But if you want to find out what’s being served, you’ll have to meet the truck tomorrow in Beverly Hills at 9650 Wilshire Blvd at noon. Keep close to its Twitter page for more chef announcements and find more information on Cart for a Cause’s Facebook.
