Two food-filled fundraisers are looking to turn a few of our favorite vices (drinking, gambling, jail stints) into non-profit proceeds. On March 10th, A Place Called Home is bringing back its “Stars and Strikes,” an eating, bowling, and casino night party at Pinz Bowling in Studio City that has drawn celebrities like Penny Marshall, Mark Wahlberg, Wilder Valderama, and a scattering of Laker Girls and other stars over its last three years.

The entire bowling alley will be open exclusively to guests and Whole Foods Market will contribute a massive all-you-can-eat spread for munchies, while a drawing for dinners at Taste and Beechwood, among other prizes, pops off at 9:30 p.m. Upstairs, a No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament will be hosted by World Series of Poker Championship dealer Jolyn Haviland. Eat, drink, and gamble away, as proceeds go to A Place Called Home, which which provides education, arts, counseling, groceries and a safe-haven for youth and families in South L.A. Wednesday, March 10, 2010. 7-11 P.M. at PINZ, 12655 Ventura Blvd. Studio City. Find tickets and poker registration online.

Rolling down to Chino, February 17th will find the mock-arrest of some of the city’s most prominent players. Chino Hills’ website says the charge is technically “having a big heart for Jerry’s Kids,” which means they support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, lest you get the wrong idea. The execs and business leaders will be nabbed in their offices and brought to BJ’s Brewhouse from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At that point, they’ll be photographed, fingerprinted, and donate “bail” of $1,600, then get to network while they eat BJ’s food, which could possibly be a punishment, depending on the location. Whether or not this satiates anyone’s lust for corporate blood or turns into a beer-soaked tar-and-feathering isn’t important, it’s all for a good cause.

The Chino/ Chino Hills Executive Lock-Up: 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, 4585 Chino Hills Parkway. Chino and Chino Hills.
