Nobu West Hollywood is extending its offerings in a way that thankfully agrees with our budgets and opens its exalted halls to a wider, broker, less exalted audience. In addition to nightly happy hours with drinks from six to ten bucks and the additions of new eats like uni dry miso and Spanish baby octopus to a list of Japanese-Peruvian snacks (and Mexican, if you count the tacos) the restaurant calls its “tapas,” chef Alex Becker now offers a nightly omakase of six chef-selected dishes for just $40. Shattering our skepticism, the restaurant confirms that Becker will design it himself and the menu will change every few nights as he sees fit, with three sushi small plates followed by two hot dishes and a dessert. We’ve included the tapas menu below and suggest coming by from 6-9 P.M. when drink specials are in full effect.
