Kraftwork the Bar Coming to Fishtown, No Word on Kraftwerk the Band

Sidecar Bar owner Adam Ritter just provided us with some details on his second project, a bistro with craft beer in Fishtown. The new spot, located at 541 East Girard Avenue will be called Kraftwork and Ritter expects to have it open in about two months. Click through for more details on the beer program and the bistro menu.

Plans call for 24 taps and no bottles at all, plus growlers to go. “Bring your passport,” says Ritter, as the beers will be a mix of locals, nationals and international selections. Why no bottles? “I’m not doing my job right if I have 24 taps and can’t put something on there to satisfy every palate,” he explains. He’s also been stockpiling kegs in anticipation of opening - currently he’s sitting on 15 kegs of product from Japanese cult favorite craft brewer Hitachino.

Ritter has hired Michael Thomas from Bar Ferdinand as chef. The two have just started working on the menu at Philly Kitchen Share, but Ritter says to expect “basic bistro fare with a European accent.” As far as the decor goes, it includes a 30-seat u-shaped bar in the middle of the room with handmade tiger maple picnic tables around the perimeter for communal seating.

Ritter is not the owner, but has been contracted to manage and operate the restaurant in two-year increments for a group of investors.
