New Ethiopian Coming to SOMA, Asia de Cuba Closing, and More

SOMA: A new 48-seat Ethiopian restaurant called Moya is moving in at 1044 Folsom. Owner Fana Alemayehu says that in addition to coffee roasted in house, they’ll be serving a full menu for lunch and dinner, specializing both in vegan dishes and a version of steak tartare called ketfo with raw beef, butter, and spices. Pending all-but-certain permit approval on Thursday, they’ll be open in April. [Grub Street]
Union Square: Asia de Cuba, which in its day was known to draw long lines and trendy crowds much like its neighbor in the Clift Hotel, The Redwood Room, is shuttering on April 17th. Owner/mogul Jeffrey Chodorow is walking away with his brand, but another operator is coming on board and reopening in the space within days of the closing, so as Eater points out, the new restaurant is likely to look pretty familiar. Noe Valley: Wine and beer shop Urban Cellars has been busted by the ABC and had their license suspended for the second time. [Noe Valley SF, Earlier]
Hayes Valley: The former Essencia space at the corner of Gough and Hayes will soon be filled with a second Roland’s Bagels, as well as an attached lunch/dinner venue called Terra with a bistro menu and a bar. [Eater]
Golden Gate Park: Rec & Parks have released their specific location assignments for food carts in the parks, and there are no big surprises, but it’s nice to know there’ll be Blue Bottle and Annie’s Hot Dogs at the bandshell next to the DeYoung and the Academy of Sciences. Dolores Park will still feature a rotation of vendors associated with La Cocina, in addition to Blue Bottle. [SFoodie]
Downtown Napa: Tuscany rises again, in the same space it was originally in, mere months after shuttering to make way for The Border. [Napa Blogs via Eater]
Ferry Building: An item from late last week that was no great shocker, but worth noting: The space occupied by the shuttering Lulu Petite will not be filled by any newcomers. Instead, Cowgirl Creamery’s just expanding into a double-wide. [Eater]
