The Other Critics

City Paper Food Critic Signs Off

David “Philafoodie” Snyder, one of the City Paper’s two restaurant critics, has announced he’s leaving his post. Snyder sat down with Meal Ticket’s Felicia D. to explain how reviewing has changed restaurant dining for him and to offer advice for wanna-be critics with his usual dry wit. Our favorite words of Snyderian wisdom: “in this job, being a picky eater is not an asset.” So does this mean CP is hiring a new critic? We asked and we’ll let all of you aspiring food critics know when we find out. An update, from CP

Sorry, aspiring food scribes. It appears the City Paper isn’t looking for a critic to replace David Snyder, who announced his departure last week. Associate editor and Meal Ticket pilot Drew Lazor says the current plan involves Trey Popp, the paper’s other critic, taking on a larger number of reviews.
