K! Pizzacone Is Now Serving, Yes, Pizza in a Cone

Last summer at the Fancy Food Show, we caught wind of Spanish pizza in a cone. Back then it was but a golden unicorn, but just a month later we noticed that a Brazilian market in Queens had started serving that country’s version. If you haven’t made it out to Long Island City to try it, you may never have to, because a couple of finance guys from Portugal (inspired by a vacation in Brazil) opened K! Pizzacone this morning in midtown.

Unlike the Queens operation, K! is an independent store which gets its cones every day from a Connecticut bakery (they’re not formed by machine). You tell them what ingredients you want (everything from prosciutto to banana flambé), and they’re mixed in a bowl with mozzarella and either pesto or tomato sauce, inserted into the cone, and placed in the oven for about five minutes. The results are the crispy cones you see here. Order one today (the store is open from 7 a.m. till midnight) and you’ll get a large drink free. Here’s the menu.
