Downtown’s New Starry Kitchen Originated in Owners’ Apartment

Downtown’s new pan-Asian eatery Starry Kitchen has a mission beyond serving short ribs
from scratch and free-range lemongrass chicken. “Let’s keep SKDT D-Bag Free,” the founders write on their Facebook page. While we wish them luck dreaming our impossible restaurant dream, BlogDowntown reminds us this food already has a legion of followers. Starry Kitchen’s self-taught chef Thi Tran and co-founder/husband Nguyen started selling dishes from their apartment, announcing the selection over Facebook and creating a local stir through online updates before being shut down. Now the Nguyen’s can be found on Grand Ave. and are offering a menu where the sides shift every few days and the main courses will change about every two weeks, and everything is made fresh. The current menu is available through Starry Kitchen’s website.
