The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming to Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. Could any moment symbolize so perfectly what we love about this town? The Dodger Community Caravan (not a food truck) is hitting L.A. next week, Monday through Wednesday, to tour area hospitals, local restaurants, and other foundations and give the public autographs, face-time, and the occasional Dodger Dog. Past and present members of the Big Blue Wrecking Crew will appear, from mania-enducing Fernando Valenzuela, Ron Cey, “Sweet” Lou, and Tommy Lasorda, to current players like food-blogger Andre Ethier and his homie in the outfield, Matt Kemp.
The foodiest parts of the Dodger Community Caravan include a stop at ESPN Sports Zone on Monday, where the first 80 fans will get first dibs on priority seating, plus a $25 gift certificate and first access to autographs with a $20 purchase. Tuesday will see the team’s participants visit Trader Joe’s in Hastings Ranch and Wednesday will find Fernando, Kemp, James McDonald and Ramon Troncoso, as well as the Dodgers’ Spanish-language broadcasters, holding a lunch at Roscoe’s at 12:30 p.m. We don’t know whether you’ll have to share your fries with Fernando, but expect to have company if you’re planning to find out.
