Four Daughters Kitchen is opening in Manhattan Beach this Monday to serve breakfast and lunch, the restaurant informs us, with dinner service to begin in February. This is the first restaurant owned by Clint Clausen, who worked to open two locations of Katusya and closely with Michael Mina on XIV, among other notable restaurants in L.A. and Vegas that include other SBE and Mina-affiliated properties. Having named his South Bay cafe for his own offspring, Clausen plans Four Daughters to be a neighborhood family-friendly bistro with lots of choice for not a lot of scratch.

On a menu that Clausen might have suggested has Thomas Keller’s involvement on Facebook are plates like a chorizo and egg taco and a chicken and chipotle horseradish scramble in the morning, as well as burgers, sandwiches, pastas, and salads throughout the day. Four Daughters is mostly straight-forward casual grub, though small twists exist in dishes like a Kobe-topped taco salad and a shrimp BLT. The space, decked with a bright wall of windows, fits 60 guests and has free wi-fi, while prices range between seven and fifteen dollars.
