The Breslin Joins Restaurant Week, But You’ll Still Need Ken Friedman’s Cell-Phone Number

NYC & Company hasn’t yet announced the lineup of this winter’s Restaurant Week, which runs from January 25 to February 7, but a press release tells us that reservations open January 12 and newcomers will include the Breslin and SD26. Before you get too excited about finally being able to reserve a dinner spot at the Breslin, take note: The restaurant says they’ll only be participating during lunch, and no reservations will be taken. Of course, you can always follow the example of Gael Greene, who has never been to the Spotted Pig (and refuses to go) because it doesn’t take reservations, but recently broke down and called Ken Friedman direct for a table at the Breslin. Also new to Restaurant Week this year: A food truck stocked with soups from various participants. You can, of course, keep up with it on Twitter.

Plus: Serious Eats reports that the Ace Hotel’s Stumptown is now serving pastries by the Breslin.
