Some, like the SF Chron’s Michael Bauer, may find the constant presence of cell phones and cell-phone cameras inappropriate at the dinner table. But as if to encourage the bad behavior of bloggers and the otherwise food-obsessed, SF-based developers Alexa Andrzejewski and Ted Grubb (good name!) have created Foodspotting. It’s an iPhone app where users upload photos of the restaurant dishes they love best, and are rewarded with greater nominating power the more they find foods that others want.
For the voyeurs and the merely hungry, the app can also serve as inspiration to fulfill cravings you can’t put your finger on — not unlike its predecessor site and likely inspiration, Tastespotting. It’s still in alpha testing right now and only available via web, but if you’re the type who’s always whipping out your phone to snap your soup dumplings before digging in, you may want to join up.
