Boston Greets the New Year with a Restaurant Shuffle

The new year is only a few days old, but its already brought with it news of three new restaurant openings — a good omen for 2010! First, Ariana Cuisine from Afghanistan and Basil Asia Cafe are coming to Allston, reports Boston Restaurant Talk. The first will take the place of the well-regarded Indian spot Dawat (which Mat Schaffer called “solid” in September), while the latter will open in the former home of Bo-Thai, whose owner told us he was looking to sell the restaurant back in July.

Meanwhile Downtown, a forthcoming Thai restaurant is seeking an avant garde sushi chef, so that should be interesting. The restaurant seems to be named Sushiya, but a call to the Watertown restaurant formerly known by the same name (now Red Lentil) reveals that the two are unaffiliated. Developing!
