Zinnia, chef Sean O’Brien and wife Patricia’s follow-up to the now closed, and very successful Myth, has announced it too is closing at the end of the year. The owners tell Eater that the positive uptick in numbers due to the holidays allows them to shutter on a high note. But the adress the restaurant has lived at this year at 500 Jackson Street probably hasn’t helped – it was briefly and formerly home to 500 Jackson, Cypress Club, and Scott Howard, and the “failed space” was one of the first things noted in Michael Bauer’s two-and-a-half-star review last January.

Also in closings news today, the Metro Café in the Metro Hotel building on Divisidero is shuttering. Eater reports that the owners of the joint, which tried to revamp itself from the beloved Nepalese restaurant Metro Kathmandu into a “California comfort cuisine” establishment this past summer, are also blaming the recession.
