It turns out Jimmy Lappalainen was on Marcus Samuelsson’s team when they helped White House chef Christina Comerford prepare a state dinner for Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh. A press release says the chef, who heads the kitchen at Samuelsson’s Riingo, was “intimately involved in crafting” the meal Samuelsson got all the glory for, and that he’ll be offering it to Riingo diners from December 14 to December 20. The three-course meal (which is also being offered in Chicago) is $45 and does not include White House arugula. Which is fine, because City Hall arugula is more environmentally responsible anyway. The menu is below, if you want to refresh your memory.
Potato and Eggplant Salad
Arugula, Tatsoi and Onion Seed Vinaigrette
Red Lentil Soup
Apples and Fresh Cheese
Green Curry Prawns
Caramelized Salsify, Smoked Collard Greens and Aged Basmati
