With Smuggler’s Cove exactly one week out, Martin Cate shared a couple tidbits with us about what we can expect from his 200-strong rum menu: “It includes the exceptionally rare Appleton Estate 30 year old, of which there are only 1,400 bottles in the world. I’m actually still pricing it, but it’ll probably be about $50-something a shot, maybe $60. It retails at about $400 a bottle. If you can find one around. I think there are only twelve bottles allocated to Bay Area distributors.” That particular selection probably won’t be in one of the 80 cocktails on the list, which the newly finalized staff is currently perfecting.
