Former Slanted Door pastry chef Mutsumi Takehara debuted Sandbox Bakery on Cortland Avenue Monday with a menu of her own pastries and coffee from Ritual and De La Paz. According to Juli b., she “created a unique eatery by outfitting the one-time motorcycle repair shop in white tile and flint-stoned walls, a drawing chalkboard and oversized cases for viewing the pretty treats.” Pretty soon she plans to add English muffins, rice burgers, salads, sandwiches, and pizzetas to the morning and early afternoon menu. Then you’ll be set for neighborhood eats at least through the school day.
