Off Vine will soon return to Hollywood more than a year and a half after the blaze that nearly took down their 1908 craftsman during meal-service (no living bodies were hurt). The owners announce on their voicemail that they’re scrambling to restore the porch and first-floor dining room that were lost to them, but say on Facebook that a planned December reopen might be pushed back slightly. Los Angeles tells us that about 98 percent of the staff has agreed to return when Off Vine is complete (jobs have dried up a little since April 2008). The restaurant has installed a new state-of-the-art kitchen and second-floor dining room, planning to use both in efforts to expand off-site catering. Off-Vine would have celebrated its second decade this year, instead it is doing its best to open before 2010.
