Mission Street Food Funds Vegan Charity with Pork

Mission Street Food never tried to be overly friendly to vegetarians, but they may end up alienating whatever herbivorous allies they have with this Thursday’s dinner. Guest chef Thomas Martinez, formerly of Mission Beach Cafe, will serve pork ribs, pork belly, beef soup, and bacon, donating the proceeds to Food Not Bombs (which for those who don’t know is a group that gives out free vegan food to the hungry). This did not sit well with Vegansaurus — “I can’t tell if they’re stupid or if they’re fucking with us… it seems like a night where the proceeds are going to a veg organization, there could be some love for those of us who abstain from the pig carcass.” Well, the real question here is whether Food Not Bombs will accept the dirty, organic-bacon-fat-stained donation. We bet they will.
