Pan-Asian spot Jae’s Cafe is getting an overhaul, reports the Brookline TAB. Owner Shun Li Chen plans to shutter the restaurant next month and reopen the space in March with a new menu and furniture as Buddachen. Though some of Jae’s dishes will remain on the Buddachen menu, Chen will also add new ones “inspired by New-York-style Chinese food.” Judging from the name, Chen might be looking to upscale New York spots like Buddakan. Those who love the current Jae’s Cafe, however, need not worry: there’s still a branch alive and well in the South End.
