First Look at Despaña’s Annex, Soon Serving Beer and Wine

Earlier today we brought news of an eatery opening an in-house grocery and now, an instance of pretty much the reverse. Spanish imports store Despaña has long served some of the best sandwiches in town, but until now there’s only been one small table upon which to spill the crumbs; however, not long ago, the store busted through a wall and expanded into the former Calypso space. They’ve added three communal tables in the back of the room (each seating 6–8) and once they get their liquor license, they’ll use the front of the room for a wine store. Since Despaña doesn’t have a kitchen, the current menu of tapas, salads, and sandwiches won’t change much, but when the annex is rechristened Despaña Vinos y Más, you’ll at least be able to pair your tortilla with a beer or wine. And when breakfast service starts in January, you’ll be able to enjoy churros con chocolate starting at 8 a.m.
