Traci Des Jardins has been busy up in the mountains, preparing to open Manzanita next Wednesday, Dec. 9. The restaurant in the Ritz Carlton Highlands hotel near Truckee will serve simple, comfort fare, like the pork-belly sliders that won best dish at the Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival in September. “The restaurant occupies choice quarters in a rambling resort whose looming design replicates such turn-of-the-20th-century landmark lodges as the Ahwahnee at Yosemite National Park and Timberline in Oregon,” according to the Sacramento Bee. Looks like Plumpjack is going to get a run for its money this winter.
