Coffee Break

Coffee: Damned If You Brew

Coffee, like alcohol (but never cigarettes), is bandied about by scientists as something that’s good for you or bad for you. Or good for you and bad for you. Here’s the latest: Drink three to four cups a day, and you’re 25 percent less likely to develop type 2 diabetes. Could that be because you’re so overcaffeinated that you get nauseous and don’t overeat? Another finding: Men who drink at least six cups a day have a 60 percent-lower risk of advanced prostate cancer. We drink two cups of coffee a day, and according to a handy chart in The Wall Street Journal, that means we’re 60 percent less likely to commit suicide. Woohoo! Black, no sugar, please.
