The Korean fried-chicken chain that claims to have 3,500 location in 35 countries has struck out here in New York. BBQ Chicken’s Chelsea location closed and now its St. Marks outpost (which had been plagued by opening delays) has also thrown in the towel, according to a sign on the window penned by the bubble-tea counter it shared a space with: “TKettle is taking over the entire store and become a full service venue!!! The best bubble tea in town, as always, and irresistible Taiwanese food will be served!!!!!!! Be back in 3 weeks. Stay tuned.” BBQ Chicken’s Flushing location remains open, but it looks like Manhattanites, at least, weren’t all that excited about chicken fried in olive oil.
