Bánh Mì Bomb: Paris Sandwich Drops Second Location

When Vietnamese bakery and café Paris Sandwich opened on Mott Street, our headline read “Bánh Mì, Oh My: New Shop Challenges the Greats.” Of course, that was in January of 2007, a bit before the Asian sub craze began in earnest. This Thursday, Paris will challenge the greats more directly when it opens a second, considerably slicker and more spacious location (in the long-vacant Grand Street Gourmet space) just one block north of Bánh Mì Saigon and one block south of the expanding Viet-Nam Bánh Mì So 1. Like the current location (itself just a few blocks south), it contains a Yolato Express. Also new on the block, at the corner of Mott and Grand, just in time for Christmas: a Chinese roasted-chestnut stand.
