Fall Openings: A Status Check

Now that Coppa’s finally serving up cordials and stuzzi in the South End and the second Parish Cafe is launching next week, Boston’s fall opening season is over. The good news: the vast majority of the twelve big openings we previewed back in August have, in fact, opened. The bad: almost none did so on time. We’ve got all the data, plus explanations for some of the most egregious delays. Let’s check in, shall we?

Reason for the Delay: “When they laid down the floor, they had a few days of rain, which meant extra moisture, so everything had to stop for a few days,” reports spokesperson Martha Sullivan.

The Regal Beagle
Scheduled to Open: September 15
Actual Opening Date: November 3
Reason for the Delay: “After gutting the whole restaurant, we found things we didn’t expect to have to fix” says spokesperson Nicole Tocchio.

Lord Hobo
Scheduled to Open: Late September
Actual Opening Date: November 19

Coppa
Scheduled to Open: September 15
Actual Opening Date: December 9
Reason for the Delay: Construction wasn’t completed until early November, but the real issue was a delayed inspection from the fire department, according to Jamie Bissonnette’s Twitter.

Olecito Brookline
Scheduled to Open: September 15
Actual Opening Date: Still not open; currently projected for mid-January
Reason for the Delay: “There’s a power issue in the building,” says Erwin Ramos “and I’m the kind of person who wants to make sure everything’s ready when we open.”

Curly Cakes
Scheduled to Open: October 20
Actual Opening Date: Still not open; currently projected for January
