New expansions are imminent for two favored and fast L.A. restaurants. First we learn Umami Burger is opening that third location we recently heard about, a mere month after springing Umami number two on Los Feliz. Eater reports the Japanese burger chain will open the new link, called Umami Urban, this Friday at Space15Twenty on Cahuenga, possibly sapping some of the attention from burger and beer matching newcomer Stout, which is due to open today or tomorrow. There will be new sandwiches and another Japanese-style bar, in addition to the things we’ve come to expect from Adam Fleischman and crew. Umami Urban. 1520 North Cahuenga Blvd. Hollywood.
Elsewhere, Mendocino Farms is adding a second location of their wine country sandwich shop to Flower Street, according to Los Angeles Downtown News. The new Mendocino is slated to open this Monday just a short walk down the steep incline from their Bunker Hill space. It will keep limited hours at first from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Knowing Umami’s popularity and the fact that Mendocino expects to sell “700 sandwiches a day,” these additions should satisfy a big demand or at least help you fit a bite into your lunch hour with less driving and climbing.
