It’s not as big as last year’s two-pound behemoth, but the biggest white Alba truffle of the season so far has landed at Philadelphia steakhouse Barclay Prime, besting the other bidder, Daniel. After a brief bidding war - Barclay Prime chef James LoCascio says it all happened in about twenty minutes - the 1.1 pound truffle went to Barclay for $4,100. LoCascio isn’t sure yet how he’s going to use his pricey new ingredient, which is expected to arrive at the restaurant late Tuesday afternoon or early Wednesday morning, but we’re sure whatever he makes with it will be extravagant and expensive. Click through to see truffle purveyor Mikuni Wild Harvest’s video hawking the truffle to chefs.

*Update: After this post was published, Mikuni Wild Harvest said there were several restaurants across the country interested in procuring the truffle, not just Daniel.
