Lunch Rolls Closes, Has Plans to Reopen as a New Concept

Lunch Rolls, the Loop-based restaurant from former Bonsoiree chef Luke Chenier, is closing after today’s service. Per LTHForum:

After today, Lunch Rolls in the loop will be no more. Unfortunate, considering the limited number of decent lunch spots in the loop to begin with. The cashier told me that they should be reopening in January, however, with a new concept.

Any thinning of the ranks of Loop lunch options is practically a civic tragedy, but the idea of a new concept isn’t such a terrible move for Chenier - as workday sandwiches go, his kitchen was producing top-notch stuff, but the morose atmosphere and totally confusing name (that’s rolls as in Parker House, not maki, we’re sure Chenier is sick of explaning for the umpteenth time) didn’t help too much. Here’s to that January reopening panning out. [LTHForum]
